InFARMations and Film Screenings coming to your area

Thank you to the many good food supporters who came out to our recent InFARMation events in Portland and Bend, as well as our first screening of the movie Eating Animals in Corvallis. We have several more events coming up so check out what's happening in your area and mark your calendars. You won't want to miss out!

 InFARMation (& Beer!):

October 15th, Portland: Vote With Your Dollars - Conversations about keeping your money in the local economy, and why and how to get to know your Farmers
October 21st, Salem: How and Why to Purchase Local Meat - Defining what it means to purchase "half of cow" and how to go about it, plus a 'Meat and Greet' with local producers

 Free Film Screenings:

Join us for one of many free special screenings of the film Eating Animals, based on the bestselling book by Jonathan Safran Foer and narrated by co-producer Natalie Portman. There will be follow up discussions of the realities and consequences of factory farming and how you can support producers in the Oregon Pasture Network who are raising their animals on pasture, a healthier and more environmentally-friendly alternative to the industrial model.

October 24th, Portland: Patagonia Store, 7:30pm
November 4th, Hood River: Rockford Grange, 6:45pm
November 6th, Sisters: Sisters Movie House, 6:45pm

FoFF in Action
at the Board of Ag and Environmental Quality Commission Meetings

Part of FoFF's Watchdog work is keeping tabs on state agencies and making sure our decision-makers are hearing from family farmers. We were in Madras to attend the Board of Agriculture (BoA) and Environmental Quality Commission (EQC) joint meeting on September 26th and gave testimony to both the BoA and EQC during public comment periods on September 27th. We outlined how the agencies' CAFO permit program is failing to protect family farms, the public and the environment. To read what we said, you can read our full testimony here. Would you be willing to testify before a committee? Contact Shari for more information.

For Producers, we have a workshop coming up in southern Oregon that you don't want to miss! The OPN is partnering once again with Dr. Woody Lane of Lane Livestock Services to offer a 3-day Intensive Workshop on Grazing, Soils, and Pastures in Central Point. This course will focus on soil health, forage and pasture management, as well as how to integrate forage cover crops on hemp farms. 20% discount for OPN members.

It's that time of year to...
Fill Your Pantry!

Fill Your Pantry events are a time for the community to come together and stock up pantries, freezers, and root cellars with locally produced meat, grains, veggies, preserves and more. Shoppers benefit from bulk deals on high quality food, and farmers are able to sell large quantities of inventory before winter fully sets in. It's a win-win and fun to boot!

Online pre-ordering begins several weeks before the actual event. Click on your local FYP for details and more information:
