A Great Day for Small Farmers and Local Eaters!

The 5th Annual Portland Fill Your Pantry and Winter Vegetable Sagra was a huge success! On December 8th, 31 local, socially-responsible farmers and ranchers sold their products, 14 chefs gave tasty samples, 30 plus cheerful volunteers kept the coffee hot and the produce rolling, and over 1000 households filled their pantries with healthy goods! Our tallies indicate that about $85,000 dollars were circulated in our local economy at the one-day event. Read more about it here. Thank you so much to all who were a part of it!

Fill Your Pantry is a significant labor of love for Friends of Family Farmers. You can help make sure we continue hosting this fabulous, community-wide event, along with all the other important programs we do on behalf of small and mid-size farmers, by donating to FoFF.

Please donate today, and Patagonia will match your gift!

Eating Animals Film Screenings

Join us for one of our final two screenings of the film Eating Animals, based on the bestselling book by Jonathan Safran Foer and narrated by co-producer Natalie Portman. There will be follow up discussions of the realities and consequences of factory farming and how you can support producers in the Oregon Pasture Network who are raising their animals on pasture, a healthier and more environmentally-friendly alternative to the industrial model.

December 17th, Salem: Grand Theater, 7:00 pm; co-hosted with the Salem Progressive Film Series
January 15th, Bend: Central Oregon Locavore, 6:45pm

Take action to protect Oregon's socially responsible family farms, along with our climate, air, and water!

You may remember Lost Valley Farm: A complete disaster, racking up over 200 violations in the 18 months it was open. Now Easterday Farms has applied for a permit to house nearly 30,000 cows at the exact same location outside Boardman, Oregon. Despite our efforts, not one thing has changed with Oregon's CAFO permitting program. How can we believe things will be different with Easterday Farms? It could pose the very same economic harm to family-run dairies, and has the same potential for devastation to the surrounding environment.

Stand with us to tell ODA:  No new mega-dairies in Oregon. Deny Easterday Farm's permit!

Join the Oregon Pasture Network

We have added a number of benefits to our program, the Oregon Pasture Network, over the last couple years. If you are a pasture-based producer, now is the time to apply! We sponsor classes to provide expert assistance for producers to deepen their understanding of the art and science of responsible grazing, and to improve their operations. We also organize pasture walks so members can get together to learn from one another and talk pasture. Members of the Oregon Pasture Network also get free placement in the first ever statewide Pasture-Raised Product Guide.
